Notes: I couldn't resist this prompt, in spite of the play itself trying to argue against me. This fic takes some minor liberties with the chronology of Acts 1-2 of R3 in order to explain, among other things, how Clarence ended up with children old enough to talk when he got married in Act 4 of 3H6 and one assumes from the state of Henry VI's corpse that R3 begins within several days (maybe, if you stretch it, several weeks) of the end of 3H6 and that acts 1-2 take place over the space of several more days.

Title: For Summer Days; A Nightmare

Summary: Clarence's dream haunts him, and he thinks on things do distract himself as he waits for some news of his rescue.  He thinks on summer days at Ludlow to drown out the shadows and moaning of his nightmare.

Author's Notes:  Written for the_alchemist for thisengland ficathon.  I have a soft spot for crazy dreams and wanted to include two of the requests, and this was the best way I could think to do them.  Hope you like it!

And, perhaps, in memoriam, for a young French princess who had crossed the sea to marry a man she had never met for an alliance she did not understand.
Notes: The plays contradict themselves regarding the ages and birth order of Anne and Isabel Neville; Anne is described as the eldest in 3HVI, and in R3 as the younger. I will be following R3, which reflects the historically correct order. Title comes from Henry V, V.ii.240. Many thanks to rosamund and angevin2 for beta-reading!
