geeking out on shakespeare's histories

The way you write these men, I wish I'd known them. Richard's wit and his seriousness at play; Hal's honesty outweighing (for once) his desire to seem one thing perfectly--the real affection that they developed, in a few moments of trying to understand each other and never quite managing it. This is a beautiful, heartbreaking piece, and the recipient is desperately lucky.
