I had to go and get a beer after about four paragraphs of this because it felt like a waste to read it without one.
I love this bit:

Kate opened her mouth, all sorts of rejoinders about gender essentialism and simplifying the issue and quotas and Christine Lagarde and, yes, Mrs Thatcher jangling in her head, but they fought with memories of Harry's earnest puppy face and Henry Lancaster Junior playing strip darts in a pub and someone named 'fat John' passed out in the loos at 11am. She looked down and her beer was empty.
