WOW! You have absolutely distilled everything that is fascinating about these characters -- including Richard and Kate, who aren't exactly even in it -- and it's hilarious and it's hot and there's tragedy lurking them to. Percy is part of it but doesn't let him understand it; Aumerle is part of it but can't do anything about it; and Chaucer isn't even part of it but he's an artist and a genius observer of human nature and so he understands it before anybody else does (but he can't say it).

Also, it would be a fascinating footnote to history if, in fact, Geoffrey Chaucer had to have his hand amputated because Harry Percy bit it because Chaucer was trying to keep Percy from pointing out that Richard II's boyfriend was, in fact, his boyfriend (which everybody knew but wasn't saying).
