(Yes, the icon is the wrong Richard. But the squee is SO RIGHT.)
YOU HAVE TOTALLY REDUCED ME TO CAPSLOCK INCOHERENCE. THAT IS HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS FIC.
But I will try to be coherent.
The universe. My GOD, the universe! I love the Baconians and the Dominicans and Franciscans -- and of course they would fight over nomenclature! Conrad and his insistence that he is a scientist and not a wizard. All the wonderful, rich touches that bring this world to life--
I am COMPLETELY staggered.
This reads like the most fantastic speculative fiction, with just enough realism to feel perfectly organic to the period it refracts.
And ELEANOR! What a wonderful heroine! She's one of the few sensible people in Thomas of Woodstock, and you have done such a magnificent job of both transplating her and turning her into the perfect vessel to explore this universe.
Richard and Henry are pitch-perfect. I adore Henry's aeronautical adventures and Richard's totally dodgy reasons for wanting an automaton double in the first place and the fact that he loves Anne far too much to send her to bed with a robot...Woodstock, Gaunt, and Greene too are marvellous, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of them!
(And I have to stop now because I MUST read further--)
