Indeed. I am way inarticulate this evening, but it's so apt when he finally talks to Henry, and there's so clearly an ocean between them, and it is irrelevant that John isn't really essential to the whole process. He is the narrative here, and ohmy, I really might have fallen into the deep end of the deconstructionist wading pool, right there.
