Thought I'd better introduce myself, new community and all. *waves* I'm Caroline, aka denorios. I live in the heart of England, under the steely gaze of a rather decrepit castle whose small claim to fame is that Mary Queen of Scots hated it. Rah.

I feel I should be doing a 'hello, my name is caroline and i'm a shakespeare addict' sort of schpiel. Umm, my favourite plays are Richard II, Julius Caesar and Henry V. Derek Jacobi's portrayal of Richard II in the BBC Shakespeare production is my DVD comfort blanket. Well, that and Branagh's Henry V. I love Derek Jacobi. And Kenneth Branagh. Although I will never forgive him for allowing Keanu Reeves anywhere near Shakespeare. My favourite sonnet is 29...*wibbles*

I have a poster of Shakespeare above my bed. He looks a bit dashing with that earring and the open-lace collar.

Mine too! In fact, much of that paragraph sounds a lot like me, except for the part about liking Julius Caesar, and also I think that Michael Keaton actually came closer to ruining Much Ado than Keanu did. ;)

But Jacobi's Richard II is utterly fabulous. *squees a bit*

I can't tell you how long it took me to find a copy of Richard II on DVD. Years, I tell you! But I have it now and it's mine. *pets*

And yeah, Michael Keaton was awful. What possessed Branagh to cast him? The mind boggles...

Yeah, I finally got it when they released a boxed set of the histories, and spent quite a bit of money on the set although I didn't know if the other plays in it (the rest of the tetralogy, plus Richard III) would be any good. (As it is 2 Henry IV and Richard III were quite competent, 1 Henry IV was uneven, and Henry V was awful, so on balance I came out all right.)

And I did not, certainly not, display Gollum-like behavior toward my newly-acquired DVD.

...I mean, come on! Jacobi and Gielgud! ;)
