Thank you! I saw that prompt and it wouldn't leave me alone, so thank you for requesting it! :)

I have such a weakness for Richard/Anne and it keeps almost happening in the gigantic WW2 AU but I have to get through a gigantic pile of plot stuff before I can even see the shippy bits. ;) And as for the sexy, I really enjoyed the way that scene played out in the recent Stratford production (LOVED Pippa Nixon's Anne, also her costume) and I may have borrowed a few things...

I had forgotten that Shakespeare, for no reason I can actually figure out, switched the order of Richard and Anne's marriage and Clarence's imprisonment, which makes it tremendously difficult to write a more mercenary Anne since Clarence is the perfect target. I really wanted to make some reference to the cookshop debacle, but sadly it didn't fit. If I ever get that far in my Wars of the Roses novel, it'll be there.

You're right--it wouldn't end happily for them. I had a vaguely formed idea where Anne's death was a hoax but Richard's wasn't, and it depressed me too much so I didn't write it.
