I love that scene in the snow--how aware Richard is even then of the privilege of others, and how he feels he has to twist that privilege in loops and turn their pity into his own power. How he demands an apology for being made to strike Anne, and thereby turns the striking into her fault--which is terrible of him, but also very true to character. It's a deeply creepy, understated scene, and very well done.
